EXPEDITIONS:
Overview
GAMER includes 3 educational expeditions per year for each student in kindergarten to 12th grade. One third of the field trips (Learning Expeditions) will be to an institution of higher learning in San Antonio such as UTSA, Incarnate Word, and the Alamo Colleges. More than 1 trip can be to the same institution; however, it will be to another academic discipline of that institution. For example, one educational expedition could be to the Mechanical Engineering Department of UTSA and another to the Biology Department. In this way, each student will throughout the course of their schooling be exposed to 13 different academic entities with the emphasis primarily on science and technology.
The other 2/3rd of the educational expeditions will be to business, industry, and the military. The purpose of these trips is for the students to meet different people in the various jobs at the work site and to find out what function they perform, their work requirements and the qualifications that these people had to fulfill to obtain their jobs. They will also be exposed to the different compensations that the individuals receive based upon their work requirements, hours worked and education. We want these students to meet people who like their jobs, use their brains, exhibit good work behaviors, and make a good living. GAMER is structured in such a manner that each student will be exposed to 3 unique educational expeditions per year without redundancy.
